Why is Toy Story 3 under adapted screenplay? Is it based on a novel or something?

i've only seen 2 of the best picture nominees :( i want to see at least 4 others.

I've seen 5 of them. I wanted to check out The King's Speech but couldn't sell Casey on seeing it. Glad to see Hailee Steinfeld get a nom for True Grit.

Also, I'm surprised they only had 3 films in the Animated Feature category. I really thought Tangled would have made a strong showing, though it doesn't really matter since Toy Story 3 is definitely going to win.

i don't expect him to get it, but i like seeing eisenberg nominated for social network. most people will probably wonder why michael cera is being nominated for facebook movie.

this looks like a considerably better list than last year, overall.

films from last year that were good but not really "best picture" good:

district 9

also, i didn't see it but it REALLY didn't seem like the blind side belonged there.

i haven't seen that many of them, but from what i'm hearing, it seems like there are a lot fewer of those kinds of films this year. lots of my favorite directors represented, too.

i kind of still want to see the blind side, but i kind of assume it's going to be overboard on emotional manipulation.

This was a good year for movies. Looking at the Best Picture list, Inception seems to be the "weakest," so that's saying a lot.

a = sandra bullock is in it
b = she affects a southern accent (right? i think so anyway)
c = it's pretty much about football

(a + b)^c = i don't want to see it

We were at a hotel and it was on HBO, playing in the background as we were getting dressed/packing. It's fun to just affect "Big Mike's" voice and say "white lady" a bunch.

No, I haven't seen that one yet but would like to. It was between that and True Grit and we went with True Grit. From the trailers, Christian Bale's performance looks incredible.

now that there are 10 BP nominees, i am going to predict that a pixar movie will be nominated for best picture every year until the earth is engulfed by the sun.

Weird.

But I know he is, because I know left-wingers. And, trust me, there has never, ever been a right winger who is vehemently atheistic, pot-smoking, in to metal, a Truther, and a volunteer at a book festival.

The Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay is one of the Academy Awards, the most prominent film awards in the United States. It is awarded each year to the writer of a screenplay adapted from another source (usually a novel, play, short story, or TV show but also sometimes another film). All sequels are automatically considered adaptations by this standard (since the sequel must be based on the original story).

That's retarded... So therefore "Dawn of the Dead" is an "adaptation?" Whaaatever.

idk if you recall but toy story 3 and up were also about wacky adventures.

not saying i will like cars 2, but i am saying that pixar is automatic critical acclaim at this point.

They're overdue for a drubbing, which I bet Cars 2 will get. Moreover, I'm sure Pixar is aware of that. The financial gains they stand to make with Cars 2 are too astronomical not to make it, tbh.

Doesn't mean it won't get a BP nomination. Many movies that are ten times shittier than Cars 2 can possibly be have actually won.
