HANG ON

The Republicans, and their current President, current Presidential candidate, and past Congressional leaders have ALL BEEN PRO-DEREGULATION on the record.

Also, just a heads up, which party controlled Congress at the time? Which party held the veto? Oh that's right, the party that apparently did nothing in 2004 if this video of snippets is to believed.

Enough Republicans also supported Fan/Fred. Thus, nothing ever came of any of the reforms. A solid core of Republicans were very interested in regulating Fannie/Freddie further, but could never get the support. So you're right, Republicans were "in control" of everything, and they couldn't get their reforms through. It's pathetic and sad.

Congress, both parties, failed us on Fannie and Freddie, and that's why we're fucked today.

Sarah Palin: Unfit for Vice President.

Fareed Zakaria nailed it.

"When asked these complicated questions, it's not that she doesn't know the right answer, it's that she clearly does not understand the question."

The 4:50 mark.

John McCain's pick for VP is a very solid reason why he is much too risky a choice for president. He blew it.

McCain: More of the Same on Deregulation

Pelley: In 1999 you were one of the senators who helped pass deregulation of Wall Street. Do you regret that now?

McCain: No, I think the deregulation was probably helpful to the growth of our economy.

(60 Minutes, CBS)

McCain still thinks deregulation is a good idea, even while endorsing a Wall Street bailout that would add a trillion dollars to our national debt.

So conservatives everywhere, are you really voting for candidate that endorses both bailouts and no regulation?

The country is nearly bankrupt with debt, there will come a day when no one will buy our debt bonds just like right now no one will buy bonds or shares of the big Wall Street firms!

Deregulation by conservatives is not what is causing this mess. You have been brainwashed.

McCain Said Healthcare Reform Should Mirror Banking System

By the DiversityInc staff

October 01, 2008

Before the economic collapse, Republican presidential nominee John McCain wrote that he wanted to mirror the healthcare system after the banking system, according to an article he penned for Contingencies magazine. In the piece, McCain wrote: "Opening up the health-insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation."

Appearing before an audience in Florida, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama told the audience: "Folks, you can't make this stuff up. If my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would've had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week."

The entire article from "Diversity Times" (nice name for a leftist propaganda rag btw!) is based on one quote from Mccain: "Opening up the health-insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation."

What the article fails to mention is that this economic problem isn't caused by more competition among banks.

The roots of this problem were layed a long time ago, under a democratic President. Google the Community Revitalization Act. Republicans have been trying to fix it ever since. Democrats have been blocking attempted Republican reforms and regulation.

This is a decent primer since you appear to need one:

McCain Is Just More of the Same As Bush

McCain: "There Was A Recent Study That Showed That I Voted With The President Over 90 Percent Of The Time." During an appearance on FOX's "Your World with Neil Cavuto," McCain said, "The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over 90 percent of the time, higher than a lot of my even Republican colleagues."
