I've just got to say thanks Ill for posting that. I have to admit I am the lurkiest mofo around here and tbh the reason I don't say more is because of the some of the very .org points you brought up. And after the last couple of days I could really empathize for both sides but lacked both the eloquence and bravery to ever attempt to vocalize reason the way you did. Thank you Ill, for being cool once in awhile.
I think that in some ways, I found the Five's music and Rockin' the Suburbs amazing, intriguing and exciting because I had something to grow up with, for a good four or five years.
Now I'm still growing, and Ben Folds has matured and is at a point in his life where he's finally comfortable. Obviously with his solo stuff, shit has happened to him along the way, but he's comfortable and I can feel that. I could call it a rut, but that would be mean (LOL NOT 2 OFFEND OR NETHING -.org). He's not in a rut, he's not in a mid-life crisis (though he reminds me now spectacularly of my dad who moved out for a year during his mlc), he's just here now. I don't know if that's a bad thing;it may or may not be.
What I know personally is that, not to be a "sentimental guy" (LOL #2), his music seriously helped me out during some terrible times in my life. I'll spare the details but the anticipation for Songs for Silverman was what kept me here, in Barkhamsted, in Connecticut, in the U.S of A, in the w0rld.
Ben Folds will always be the guy who got me into music, basically making him the most influential person in this point of my life.
But now it's hard to know where to go from here, when a regular guy, someone everyone here felt a connection to, is no longer that guy.
Obviously, I'm bitter about it.

I just don't get why Ben would bother with that guy, really, if the album was so bad why would he give 7.5 to it? No to mention that Selfless, Cold and Compose is the greatest song ever, actually the whole album is great
