This is the thread where i post something i read about an upcoming movie on another site, and then we all talk about it, and have a jolly good time, and then you all love me again.

Okay, first there was news that McG (Charlies Angels) was directing the new Terminator film, then there was news that Christian Bale is playing adult John Connor. Then there was news that it's going to be a PG-13 rated film. Now it's been announced that Bale has signed on for three movies as John Connor.... HAS HE GONE FUCKIN' STUPID, or something...?

I've always thought he made great choices as an actor, and while i dont love all his films, i do respect the films he's done. But this just seems a bit in the wrong direction for him.

The first two Terminator films are fun and good, though. It's only really the third one (and the TV series) that's let the franchise down. Who knows, maybe Bale is the guy to pull it out of the pooper?

there's nothing wrong with the third terminator, imo, and i haven't seen enough of the series to judge. in fact, the series made t3 non-canon which kind of pisses me off, esp. since it's being produced by some of the same people.

T3 was more "wow! explosions!" than the other two, IMO, which at least tried to stay within a continual story line.

The series is... Odd. I started watching it because Summer Glau plays a major character, but it's just a bit shit, really.

the third terminator stayed true to the continuity just fine, except for a few weird continuity errors about how old john was supposed to be during t2.

and the biggest problem i have with the series in the 3 or 4 episodes i saw was getting over a different actress playing sarah, which is simply a matter of time, is suppose.

the biggest problem i had with t3 was the continual effort to make the terminator comic relief ("talk to the hand") and the complete worthlessness of the terminatrix. but the idea of making skynet into a virus instead of a supercomputer, and that fate is inescapable, that stuff was written into the story pretty well imo.

that shit was all over T2 as well. that's a big part of what terminator IS to me. not to mention Arnold Schwarzenegger in general. which is why the series is nonsense iyam.

I think the idea of all 3 movies being planned out and not just tacked on sequels is very intriguing. And the fact that christian bale is involved makes it even better.

In other movie new's soderberg's 4 hour and 20 minute biopic on Che is making huge waves at canne's right now and it sounds phenomenal. Also word is benecio del torro is amazing as Che.

One called The Argentine, which is about the events surrounding the revolucion against Batista. and the second called Guerilla, about Che travelling to New York when he addressed the UN.

Hey, thanks for that Eagle-Eye trailer, Caats. Looking forward to it. I finally got around to Disturbia on DVD, and while it's fairly by the numbers i did find it pretty entertaining. I'm just keen to see Shia Le Beouf do more. I'm seeing Indy tonight. I think he's got a lot of promise if they move him on from the charming smart arsed kid personality he's made for himself. I really liked him in A Guide To Recognising Your Saints.
