I think I decided then that I don't really like oysters.

Hey Renata! Missed seeing you around! We're doing well. Are you feeling any better now? And how's the NYC trip coming along?

I'm not posting much actually... The NYC trip is about to fail, because i can't find anyone that can provide me with a couch... SO I may be going only to NOLA, or I may just save the money and go to Europe in April... All tought decisions... Europe seems like most likely, cus the renewal here are eating all my money as well. Everyday is a new thing to repair :(

Hey now.

6pm: The score stands at 34-34. In order to stay upright and keep their strength, John Isner and Nicolas Mahut have now started eating members of the audience.

dqb, do you have an opinion on mark prindle?

aside: really enjoyed your have one on me review. when i got a physical copy a couple weeks ago i read along with the lyrics and your blurbs for each song. it enhanced my listening experience tbh.

whoa hey wow!! thank you so much for that, that's really awesome. i was worried that doing it song by song was too clunky, i'm glad to hear it worked for you bc I just couldn't get a more coherent post out of trying to tackle everything. that's so cool. THANKS mike.

dqb, do you have an opinion on mark prindle?

i haven't read him in a while but i used to rather enjoy his site. it was really helpful in the old old internet days when it was hard to find any opinions about, like, lightning seeds albums. i don't really have the same aesthetic interests as he does (for example, i remember him deriding the second talking heads album because it was "so new wave" or something), and as a teen i was put off a bit by his velvet underground reviews.. which in retrospect are quite funny.

what i liked most about prindle was the tendency he does share with me which is that when he liked an album he had to hear EVERYTHING that artist had done and examine it and rate it and compare it. i get a kick out of that sort of thing.

so generally, thumbs up.

you and i have almost identical mark prindle stories. he was one of the first reviewers i found online like 8 years ago and he made me laff a lot.

i'm probably done with my own blogspot for now. however, a friend of mine (re-)started one a few months ago and i said i would contribute. it has fallen silent since late may, but i saw him a few days ago and he specifically mentioned it booting back up again. so i will probably add to my output there, which to this point consists solely of this:

Incidentally, Joanna shot down my theory about the album's structure in an interview I read about an hour after I posted that. She says the arc of the album, such as it is, takes place in a single day. Oh the hell well I guess!

oh cool i will so keep my eye on that Popbasement!!

a shame about your blogspot. i enjoyed that, and also your retrospective posts on facebook. will you do another of those this year? you should let me know cause i basically never go on FB anymore

anyway my only regret is that i didn't start this blog on wordpress, which i like far far far more. but now i've got a couple of people commenting and one of the bands apparently linked to it in their FB (which is deeply frightening to me actually) so i guess it's too late at this point.

yeah i'll keep doing yearlies for the foreseeable future i would guess. i'm also working on a decade list but it will probably be several more months at least because i'm revisiting anything in my library that strikes me as worth a listen. i'll alert you. and wow, which band?!

i drafted a decade list and never posted it. i still am not sure about it tbh. i wanna see that, i'm glad you're running behind like i am!!

supposedly, chatham county line. strangers started showing up commenting on it and then eventually one of them explained how they found the blog. this only freaks me out because i kind of called them overly slick and stuff in the review. :-/ i hope they don't h7 me, i'm afraid to look!
