rob zombies Halloween 2 is going straight to DVD here, i think. it's out next month. I don't remember it going theatrical. It's gotten raped by the critics. Can't wait to see it.

I saw Police Acadamey 3 on GO! tonight.

WTF

terrible movie, but i liked them when i was young.

The most amusing thing to me, was in the credits at the end, STEVE GUTTENBURG! I had no idea who he was, but now i do, and i can lol when the stonecutters episode of the simpsons airs, one extra time.

this don't speak ill of the dead thing is bullshit.

haha, guttenburg is also in coccoon, short circuit and three men and a baby. in his day he was the top grossing actor, like a tom cruise or a will smith because he was in multiple franchise films. i've never thought he was as bad as people made out.

he's recently in season 2 and 3 of veronica mars. he was pretty good in that.

an education
really good. good writing, good acting, awkward plot. saarsgaaard is so creepy.

a single man
ugh. 2 hours of really annoying dramatic violin music while colin firth tries to kill himself. i was wishing he'd succeeded 25 minutes in. it got better toward the end when he stopped acting like a depressed asshole, but then it had a completely unnecessary twist at the end.

Red Cliff.

the western release of this film is atrocious. the font is too small on the subtitles. and there's no subtitle track on the dvd, it's actually on the print. also, there's this dreadful english opening narration, also it seems a lot has been cut out, regardless of the plot, just to make it one film, where in china it was two. i am going to find the original chinese version of this film.

i have to admit i pretty much hated the movie as soon as that voice-over started in english. at that point they lost me. the movie looked great, and it seemed like something i would love, but the voiceover and shitty subtitles combined ruined it for me. if i can find it without the voiceover and with visible subtitles, i'll try again.

La Dolce Vita

I feel like I lost a lot of meaning as the subtitles were pretty sparse. So for a lot of it I wasn't exactly sure what was going on. But I enjoyed it.

My favorite thing in that movie is basically Nico. Fellini is hit and miss for me. I really loved I Vitelloni, liked 8 1/2, and somewhat appreciated Nights of Cabiria. I feel like I'm forgetting one or two that I've seen...

That's the one I forgot. La Strada is very very very sad. Good but intensely sad.

uncw has a big film program so they have fantastic DVDs.

my library system is actually pretty good now too, though not fabulous on foreign films.

i love netflix but i'm temporarily lacking it (time issues). probably getting it back later in the year.

Whatever that uni library was that dusty took me to (probably the one he mentioned), it was quite impressive in its selection of dvds. In fact it was a pretty impressive library.

Haha, she was cool. I couldn't believe it when I saw her. Her laugh was kinda disturbing.

Donnie Darko.

first time in a very long time. i still think this film is amazing. very original in tone and visual style. films haven't even attempted to look like it since, which make it even better.

Yes, that was the one!! Good memory! We recently discovered that the university library in Chapel Hill (~3 hours away) is like the UNCW one except it's TEN FREAKING STORIES.
